Like many good ideas, this one started between two friends with a mutual love for beautiful objects, thoughtful design and interiors that felt as good as they looked. 

We started collecting - the kind of pieces that make you do a double take, ask “where did you get that?”  Enter - Rume, the home of all things beautiful and deliciously curated. 

Over time, what began as a shared passion project naturally evolved, and now it’s just me, Shon - the face you see in store, styling new spaces, packing orders and potentially sampling the local Pinot at one of my favourite Martinborough vineyards or at the Brewery conveniently behind the store.

I’m obsessed with timeless design and well-made pieces - and that’s exactly what you’ll see when you walk into Rume.  

The shelves are still filled with beautifully made homewares that tell a story - and they’re restyled constantly because I just can’t help myself.  You’ll find handcrafted ceramics, clever furniture, soft things you’ll want to wrap yourself in and objects that bring just the right amount of bliss to your everyday. 

What I do (besides rearrange the furniture constantly) 

Rume is more than just a beautiful store (but it's a really beautiful store).  We also offer home styling consultations - whether you’re revamping your space, setting up a new one, or just can’t figure out why your living room still feels off.   We’ll work with you to make your space feel more like you (but elevated). 

Need help finding the perfect piece?  We’re expert hunters, too.   If there’s something specific you’re after - that just-right pendant light, the elusive dining table of your dreams - we can source it for you, even if it’s not currently in our collection. 

Our collection (it’s not just a phase) 
Our range is constantly evolving.  We like to keep things fresh and curated, so what’s on our shelves today might not be here next season.   We follow design trends loosely but always trust our gut (and our customers’ opinions) when it comes to stocking pieces that are all about timeless design and well-made pieces.  

Every season, you’ll see a slightly new edit.  We believe in quality over quantity, soul over sameness and homes that reflect the people who live in them (like you!).
